What are the numbers on Meter?
First of all, we will talk about the meaning and purpose of moving numbers on the electricity meter.
First Reading
The first reading will show you the serial number of the electricity meter. First number showing on the meter shows the serial number of the meter which is also visible written on the top of the meter.
Second Reading
The second reading, will tell you how many units you have used since the meter was installed, which will be shown to you in terms of kilowatt hours. This reading is also used to calculate your current month units consumed. Meter reader from power supply company takes the picture of this reading.
Third Reading
At number three, you will see that what was your maximum demand in the previous month. How many kilowatts of load have you put on your meter in the last month.
Fourth Reading
And at fourth number, is your maximum demand for the current month. You will see here what is the maximum load you have put in the current month.
Fifth Reading
And on the fifth number, it will tell you the reading of the current load running in your house, it can be 100 watts, 200 watts, 1000 watts, whatever it is.
What are the purpose of LED lights blinking on electricity meter?
Now that you have learned about these five basic readings which you get to see inside this single-phase meter. Now, move further to talk about what is the purpose of installing these blinking LED lights.
Why are these LED lights installed? there are many companies which are making energy meters, like Transfer Power, Syed Bhai.
Power Light
The first light on the meter is indication light of power, means when this light of your electricity meter is glowing then it means that 220 volts are coming in your house and you are getting full power from the transformer.
Reverse and Earth Light
Secondly, this reverse LED light blinks when there is any issue with your solar inverter like wiring is damaged somewhere earth leakage, neutral is common on two installed meters. If the neutral of both is common then the earth light will also glow and the reverse light will also glow first. The earth light will glow for a while and then you will also see the reverse light glowing.
Mostly both these lights glow together. Sometimes one light will glow for the earth. If you have done earthing etc. in your house. Or your inverter may have less load running on it, even if it is running less watt load.
Load Light
The purpose of installing the third number indication LED light is that, if this light blink 3200 times, then one unit will be consumed.
Neutral Light
At fourth number, this light will start glowing if you are using neutral from somewhere else. For example, if you have taken the phase from one meter while you are using neutral from somewhere else. its disadvantage is that the meter will increase your reading by increasing your power factor by one.
What some people do to steal electricity is that they take the phase from one meter, the neutral from some other place such as from the ground or from some other meter, then its disadvantage is that Instead of showing less power, more power starts coming due to which your meter will give higher reading and you will get higher bill. And the electricity supply companies also impose a penalty on you that if you use neutral from somewhere else and phase from somewhere else i.e. if you try to steal electricity, then you will have to pay penalty.
How to do meter connections?
However, below you can see the four points; on the left side, first number input you will connect the wire of phase, coming from your transformer, on the second number input, the neutral from the transformer will be connected here.
On the third input, you will connect the neutral of coming from your house.
And on the forth input you will connect the phase wire coming from your house.

It is very unfortunate that Gepco is charging people using pro rata consumption even if the bill reading is done for 30 days. This is such a pathetic way of earning. Basically, pro rata was introduced to stop 32,33,34,35 even 15 days later reading. So basically if the consumer reading has been done for 30 days 195units. So gepco using pro rata 195 divided by 30 adding up 6 more units and adding up 31days reading to the bill and where the poor consumer end up losing the protected option and it is another fight going to the office and chasing his complaints.. And smilarly if any one is 295 will end up paying 301 higher slab Very bad. this will revert as a curse by ALLAH on the cruel people.
